Temple town of Becharaji in Mehsana district observed a complete bandh on Saturday to mourn the death four schoolboys who had drowned in a pond on Friday. The boys had plunged into the pond to bathe while returning from school.
They were identified as Anish Meer (13), his brother Arif (14), Mehul Nai and Dhaval Parmar, both 14 years old. All of them were studying in class VIII. Their bodies were fished out late in the evening by local swimmers. Sources said they were trapped by the sludge in the pond.
“The bandh was complete and peaceful,” Becharaji sarpanch Kanubhai Bharwad said.
